'...lovely soups, sandwiches, panini, roasted chickens, sides, mains...chocolate mousse... If you find yourself hungry and in the area, I would definitely recommend stopping in for a snack and grabbing a stool by the window.' Posting on Mukodu - December 2008
'Loïc does things differently. Not only does the French-inspired fare cost less than half what it would in a chi-chi bistro, but almost everything comes partially cooked. And if you're lucky enough to live east of Parliament, west of Woodbine and south of the Danforth, your dinner will be delivered for free... Then you finish to perfection whatever needs to be finished to perfection. Why, they'll even sell you candles... A staggeringly rich cream of cauliflower soup laced with truffle oil and lemony crème fraîche becomes transcendent after a quick nuke in the microwave... And after only four minutes under the broiler, Loïc's Croque Monsieur with Black Forest ham, Emmental and creamy béchamel becomes the grilled cheese sandwich of dreams... Even a squash and apple risotto with baby spinach and sage is perfect after five minutes of manic stirring on the Test Kitchen's dilapidated stovetop, no mean feat that.' Now Magazine - March 2009
'Chef David Kokai's new prepared food business offers classic French dishes, like an onion soup that gets consistent raves. It's all freshly prepared for busy urbanites with little time to linger. With its refined, locally sourced products, Loïc is leading a new wave of poshification in Riverside, the next hot downtown 'hood.' posting on En Route's Top 25 - November 2008
'This is exactly the food I would love to cook for myself if I had the time.' A happy customer
'With its opening, Loïc Gourmet - far and away destroys all competition in the area.' 'It's a refreshing update to the Riverside take away food market. We should know; we work in the area. ' Posting on Martini Boys - October 2008
'My office got lunch there for some clients a few days ago - we got some leftovers and they were fabulous!! Every items was really tasty. There were 2 lactose intolerant, so most of the sandwiches didn't have cheese and they were still divine! I have been meaning to try one of their roasted chickens - I'm quite sure I won't be disappointed. Lunch for 5 people was about $100, but there was enough leftover to feed 2 or 3 more people. Great value for the quality.' Posting on Chowhound February 2009
'We have had take-out from LOIC on 5 occasions (both lunch & dinner) and have not been disappointed at all. Excellent value and great flavors. Had the Cassoulet the other night which was excellent. Tarte Tatin was one of the best we have ever had (including Paris). I would not call it high-end takeout because the quality and quantity are well worth the price. Bought a lot of the frozen dinners and totally impressed.' Posting on Chowhound February 2009
